PURA VIDA FROM FLAMINGO BEACH, COSTA RICA...OUR LAST DAY HERE...
Our first night in Sarapiquí...
PURA VIDA...
Hola de Costa Rica...Day 2 - We had a great day in Sarapiqui today! We went on a fabulous river tour and saw alot of wildlife...monkeys, toucans, caimans, iguanas...The food is great, the people are so friendly. The students played soccer in town and are using so much Spanish! Our tour manager, Enrique, and our driver, Romel, are the best! Off to school and a chocolate plantation tomorrow...Pura Vida...We also ate termites today - ¡delicioso!
Day 3 -We enjoyed a fantastic day at the school - San Gerardo. The students had great time interacting with the children. Our second tour manager, Dauren, joined us today. We also explored the Tirimbina rainforest and tasted chocolate right from the forest! We finished our day with lots of Latino dancing...
Day 4 - What a wonderful morning whitewater rafting the Sarapiquí river!!! We are now in La Fortuna at Arenal Volcano. It is cloudy - Booo...We hope the clouds to lift tomorrow...Hasta pronto.
The students are well behaved and having a great time!
Day 5 - A fantastic day in Costa Rica!!! Yes, we did bring from the US a little stomach bug, but rest assured all students and adults are doing well and recovering quickly. We had the amazing opportunity to hear the active volcano today! We also repelled down 5 waterfalls and then relaxed in amazing hot springs! The students experienced so much today and are sad that our days are going by so quickly. Off to Monteverde tomorrow on top of the Continental Divide...Did you check out our latest foto from the volcano on my home page? The clouds did lift briefly so we could see our beautiful volcano. We are definitely visiting during the rainy season and can see why they call it the rain forest...
DAY 6 - We enjoyed an amazing horseback ride up to the top of the Continental Divide through the rainforest and the cloud forest. What an inspiring experience for all! What a difference in climate - it is only in the 70's up here. Brrrr...
DAY 7 - We zip lined through the cloud forest this morning and did a tarzan jump. We learned alot about bats and their benefits to our environment. We saw sloths, whiteface monkeys, agoutis, many birds, including the QUETZAL!!! Of course, we had to fit in another soccer game...Off to the beach on the Pacific coast tomorrow...
DAY 8 - What a beautiful day at Flamingo Beach. Pure paradise!!!
DAY 9 - We made it home safely and enjoyed the trip of a lifetime...PURA VIDA...
Thank you to all the students for being so well-behaved, polite, willing and eager to use your Spanish and participate in all activities.
